AN APPROACH TO THE LETTERS OF ORDERS AND THE DIMISSORIES IN THE EARLY MODERN PERIOD THROUGHOUT THE STUDY OF THE DOCUMENTS OF THE BISHOPRICS OF CASTILE

Abstract

The ecclesiastic documentation of the Early Modern Age still be a little-known subject from the point of view of the Diplomatic. We ignore the documentary typology, the structure and the operating rules of the diocesan administration of Postridentine period. This paper tries to explore the first question from the point of view of the documents related with the sacred orders, particularly the dimissory letters, which received another name in the Spanish Dioceses until XIXth Century, and the “títulos de órdenes”. All of them give valuable information about the clerics and their career.
