This paper presents a reassessment of the archaeological site of Cerro Cogolludo, which is located between the municipalities of Navalvillar de Pela and Puebla de Alcocer in Badajoz. Since the 19th century, epigraphic findings have indicated the existence of an ancient city called Lacimurga at this site. Drawing on the analysis of unpublished ceramic materials from 1990s excavations, we explore the chronology of the site's occupation and its urban development. Furthermore, we aim to shed new light on the historiographical debate concerning the identification of Lacimurga with the toponym Lacinimurga Constantia Iulia mentioned by Pliny, leaning towards the hypothesis of Flavian-period municipal promotion for the Lacimurga located Cogolludo.
