Abstract

The marginalization of women artists in early modern discourses on Baroque art serves as the starting point for a critical reading of theoretical, literary, and historical sources from the period. Through a qualitative methodology focused on historiographical and documentary analysis, the study examines the ways in which these voices were marginalized or exceptionalized. It centers on the Andalusian context through figures such as Luisa Roldán and Josefa de Ayala, paying attention to their reception in texts by Palomino, Jurado y Aguilar, da Costa Meessen and de Froes Perym, whose rhetorical strategies confirm the limits imposed on female authorship.
