Abstract

Tunisian author Ṭāhar al-Ḥaddād (1899-1935) is a key figure for the Tunisian reformist and modernist thought. In his works he wrote about issues as diverse as education, female emancipation, trade unionism, the anticolonial struggle or Islamic reform and he is considered one of the pioneers of feminism in Tunisia. In this article, I will try to analyze the influences he received, whether from contemporary Tunisian authors or European ones.
