His research activity is oriented towards the History of the Present Time and the media, from an eminently theoretical and methodological perspective. He has carried out various works and published some monographs on Extremadura at the end of the 19th century and the first third of the 20th century and on the analysis of political discourse, and more specifically on the regionalist ideology in Extremadura and Catalonia in the context of Spanish nationalism in the second stage. of the Restoration. He has taught at the Universities of Paris IV-Sorbonne, and Paris VIII.
Doctor in History from the University of Extremadura (1991) with the thesis Extremaduran emigration to the New World: voluntary and forced exclusions of a peripheral town in the 16th century, with which she obtained an Extraordinary Doctorate Award. She has been teaching at this University since 1991 in the Area of Modern History and has been a Full Professor since 1997. For years she has been developing several lines of research focused primarily on private correspondence from the modern period, historical cartography, the study of social minorities and the social impact of emigration to the Indies. It belongs to the G.I. Gehsomp.
Doctor in 2004 from the UEX and "Ramón y Cajal" researcher between 2011-2015. He is currently Hired Doctor Priority Researcher of Prehistory. His research focuses on studies of paleovegetation and uses of wood in pre- and protohistoric times in the Southwest of the peninsula, based on the analysis of charcoal recovered from archaeological sites (Anthracology). He has carried out training and research stays at the French universities of Montpellier and Rennes-1. At the teaching level, he participates in the subjects "Research in History 1" and "Research in History 4" of the Master's Degree in Research in Humanities (MUI).
