REFLECTIONS AND HISTORIOGRAPHICAL ASSESSMENT ON THE STUDY OF THE LATE-MEDIEVAL RURAL LANDSCAPE IN SPAIN FROM AN ARCHAEOLOGICAL APPROACH

Abstract

The following article is aimed to make some reflections about the theoretical and methodological proposal offered by Archaeology for the study of the rural landscape in the Late Middle Ages. During this period feudal societies became firmly established in the Iberian Peninsula and the systemic crisis which shook them up in the XIVth and XVth centuries was developed, thus leading to a new long transition towards capitalism. We will finish with a historiographical assessment of the studies carried out in Spain from this archaeological perspective in the last decades.
