Abstract

The creation of the Royal Court of Extremadura in 1791 marked the arrival of a traditional small town, conservative, a group of enlightened that energized the dying cultural, social and political reform proposals in various fields. They were joined by members of an economic migration, feeding the commercial and financial capitalism and political liberalism.

  • Alfonso Rodríguez Grajera, University of Extremadura

    Graduate and Doctor in History from the University of Extremadura, where he has developed his teaching and research career since 1983. He has participated and continues to participate in various national and regional research projects. His research has focused on the demographic and economic-social history of Extremadura during the 17th and 18th centuries, aspects to which he has devoted several books, book chapters and articles. Without abandoning this theme, in recent years he has paid special attention to the analysis of the Castilian taxation of the 1600s, especially the growth of salt; The result of this is a book and several articles in indexed journals.
